How to realize high performance of co-rotating twin-screw extruder

One of the important goals of the development and research of twin-screw extruder to improve production efficiency can be achieved by increasing the screw speed, improving the plasticizing and mixing capacity and other methods.

Under the same screw speed, increasing the depth of the screw groove can greatly increase the conveying capacity. Correspondingly, the plasticizing and mixing capacity of the screw is also increased, and the screw needs to bear a larger torque.

Under the single-screw granulator, the residence time of the material in the extruder is reduced, which may cause the material to be plasticized and melted, resulting in insufficient mixing. Therefore, it is necessary to appropriately increase the screw length, which will inevitably increase the actual bearing torque and power of the twin-screw extruder.

Increasing the free volume of the screw groove is also an important factor. In the feeding section and devolatilization section, the threaded part requires a large free volume. For bulk density materials, the free volume of the feeding section and the filling degree of the material in the screw groove can greatly improve the production capacity of the extruder.

To increase the torque and speed of the masterbatch granulator, the deceleration distribution box must be carefully designed. Greatly improving the torque index of the equipment will definitely put forward higher requirements on the design and manufacturing level of the transmission case.

In order to increase the free volume of threaded parts, when the outer diameter of the thread remains unchanged, the center distance of the two threads becomes smaller, and the problem of insufficient installation space for the matching gear and thrust bearing will become more prominent.
